Food was exquisitely flavored. Each dish arrived and was even more delicious than the previous dish. The whole experience was amazing and I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in experiencing new flavors/familiar flavors all prepared with a touch of class and elegance.

The dining experience is wonderful but you have the find the place first (need to improve signage for this place)! Finding parking is an issue but typical in San Francisco. Enjoyed the creative dishes from the chef but I wish there were more to choose from. Chef should create daily specials to improve the overall menu. The restaurant layout is different but not practical if you want to enjoy a great dining experience. Service is outstanding and drinks were great, I only hope they start thinking on a more practical approach to dining and be more competitive especially when there are so many choices in the area (Boulevard is around the corner).

LOCATION: They are now located at 139 Steuart Street (Inside The Modernist). DO NOT go to 244 Jackson location. They moved out of there a while back. Apparently Yelp will not allow them to update their location for some reason. Struggled finding the location because we went to 244 Jackson first. No live person to talk to on the phone as it was only a phone number that only allowed texting back and forth. Ambiance: 4/5 Not a "restaurant" vibe you get. A lot of 2 person tables spread out within the establishment. My wife and I went only because we had a gift certificate from when they were still 5A5 Steakhouse which they closed down during Covid. There are tables along the windows looking out to Steuart street which is nice. Service: 5/5 Service was outstanding. Keep in mind that we were literally the only couple in the restaurant. They were other people at the bar when we first got there but I am assuming they were Modernist members. The Chef, Cat, came out and explained the menu options and we asked her to just surprise us on what dishes to eat. I have to say that her choices were all on point for us. Food: 4.5/5 We had several dishes and everything we ate was very good. I gave it 4.5 because the portions were not big but it was to be expected when going to a "higher class" place to eat. As you can via the photos, presentation of the dishes were on point. The flavoring of all the food was very good in my opinion.

Not sure why this place has bad reviews. The server Raoul was super nice and the short rib soup was amazin. We went for my birthday and it was totally worth it and I'm a picky eater.

Went during their pop up - beautiful space & crowd, but not as busy with the limited soft opening. standouts - a5 wagyu, fantastic & creative beef noodle soup was a bit salty but very good manager/staff checked in a few times - 1st to assist with the menu ordering (qr codes). Super convenient/easy to order/check out. Received dishes shortly after ordering.

Food, service and ambiance are all top notch. Recently revamped with a fresh vibe. Executive Chef Cat Wang's Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup is a standout, rich in flavor and tantalizingly comforting. The poutine, an unexpected delight in an Izakaya, impresses with its indulgent combination of crisp fries and creamy cheese. Don't miss out on the shrimp toast - it's crispy, succulent, and irresistible. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. An elevated dining experience worth every one of its five stars.
